Blue Lagoon Caribbean Today we payed our first visit to the Newly opened Blue Lagoon Caribbean restaurant in Hornchurch. I’m pleased to say we left feeling very satisfied and wanting to return again soon. The menu consists of a small selection of Appetizers , Caribbean Classics , 2 Sharing Platters , Jerk Specials , Fish , Salads and sides. They also offer a selection of soft drinks , spirits and beer. Starters - We decided to have all three of the appetizers of Caribbean Style Prawns , Grilled Halloumi and the Cheesy Beef Jamaican Patty. These were priced at only £14 pounds for all 3 which is very reasonable indeed and they were all delicious. Main - Here we opted to have the Jerk Chicken Platter for two that included 2 pieces of leg and thigh , 2 boneless breasts plus 4 wings. These are accompanied by a choice of rice per person and 2 sides. I also added a portion of Sweet Potato Fries. Everything was nicely cooked and tasted very nice indeed. The platter was priced at £30 and when you consider what you get for this I found to be of great value. We also found the staff to be very friendly so yes I would definitely recommend a visit and can’t wait to return myself. Thank You for a great food and friendly service and welcome to Hornchurch
Fantastic restaurant, loved the service, food and ambience - Shelley worked tirelessly to make our experience a great one. She was very knowledgeable and attentive - we had jokes with one of the chefs, who was also knowledgeable - we wondered why certain dishes weren’t on the menu and we were advised of plans to include them as the Blue Lagoon has only been open since January, they will add dishes to fit the needs of the customers. This restaurant will definitely be seeing me again. I was a little worried that the food might not be authentic given the location and my experiences of Caribbean restaurants in areas where there aren’t that many people of colour who know how the food should taste - I shouldn’t have worried the food we ordered was tasty, flavoursome and left me wanting more. We had curry goat (no bones) rice’n’peas macaroni cheese, plantain and coleslaw if we had one quibble it would be the plantain, was a bit rubbery due to being reheated in microwave possibly but we still ate every piece of it The rum punch was divine (according to my dining partner) and the red wine was really good, not the average house wine and a good serving, a large glass half full (good job I wasn’t driving as I had two) We parked in Sainsbury’s which gave us 2 hours free parking and walked the short distance to Blue Lagoon. Music playing in the background was nice, playing tunes to groove too, not too loud to impact conversations
Delicious & very authentic. We ordered jerk chicken, white rice / rice and peas and plantain and it was delicious. The chicken was very soft and flavoursome. Service was speedy and polite. Definitely recommend
Loved it... never left a restaurant so uncomfortably full, such was the "moreishness" of the food. Was split for choice with regard the menu so went for loads, given the doggy bag option, that seemed the best idea. Curry goat, particularly good, as was the jerk chicken...mac cheese is always a winner. Had us a few rum punches and Gin and Ting to wash it all down, and then a 20 minute walk to create some space.. Will definitely be back for sure.
We came in about 3 and honestly I have nothing bad to say. They’ve literally been open a few weeks and the staff and service was 10/10 . The food tasted as amazing as it does back home and definitely was one of the top Caribbean cuisines me and my boyfriend have gone to . If you’re looking for something filling that’s affordable and quick serving definitely try the sharing platter for only 25 POUND! Thanks again guys!
